8023 on Rt 40 in the loop at 48th and Parkside, south of Fairmount Park.

This is where trolley Rts 38, 40 and shuttle 38A, the 52nd St. extension, once met. The shuttle to 52nd and Jefferson, connecting with PTC Rt 70, was bused in June 1949.

Route 38 became a bus line October 16, 1955 because there was no direct connecting track to extend it into the new Woodland Ave. trolley subway. The last day for trolley service on Rt 40 was September 8 1956.

The curve track on the left led via switchback to the unloading ramp used for new PCCs. Used PCCs were unloaded at Courtland shops.
