Back in the streetcar era, Onondaga Street, between Mission and Ocean, was used for Line 12 and for Mission cars going to and from Geneva Carhouse. Starting in 1945, and continuing even after Mission trolleys quit on January 16, 1949, the tracks were used by alternate K-Ingleside "Iron Monsters" until October 11, 1952, when the rails east of San Jose Avenue were closed.

On October 7, 2006, the annual Excelsior Fair was held in the area called the "Persia Triangle", bounded by the first block of Ocean, the first block of Persia, and the 4600 block of Mission. Tents and tables were spread out on both Ocean and Persia, requiring 49-Van Ness/Mission trolley coaches to detour via Onondaga, using APU and with poles down. All service was by ETI artics.
