Where "Retired" Trolley Buses Reside

I was approached sometime back by a longtime colleague, who was (and is) very direct. "You should add a list of preserved trolley buses to your website." It didn't sound like a bad idea, and I put it in the queue of projects to do. I got thru enough of what I already had on my list (more than trolleybuses), and began the research for this.

What follows below is the first rendering of that list. It's arguably a more complex than you might think. It does, of course, start with listing electric buses which operated in a city in North America which are on display or otherwise municipally owned. It does **not** include privately preserved buses. Why the difference? Displayed items in a museum are intended to be seen, and municipally owned objects should be a matter of public record.

Unless specifically asked for by such a private owner, I'm not going to put their trolley buses on the list. Even if your great friend always brings up their vast collection of buses and trolley buses, and constantly extols their virtues about preserving historical artifacts (but never quite gets around to actually letting someone see the items), then that great friend needs to get in contact. The "Verified" column means I was able to find someone inside or very close to that operation who would have full knowledge of the bus status in that operation. (eg, it's more than me Googling websites).

Additionally, I'm not attempting to capture where all the buses might've been and when, renumberings, etc. From my perspective I just want to provide accurate source info for people who might want to go out and find these buses.

As of this writing, the list is far from complete. I've reached out to several museums which have not contacted me back yet.

- If you know a private owner and they want to be on the list, have them drop me an email.
- If anybody has a contact in Mexico City, I'd be interested in their info. At one point rumor has it they preserved ex-Shreveport 3432 and also the last of the ex-Edmonton Flyers, and who knows what else.

Yeah, I included Sandtoft -- I would like to keep peace with the Edmontonians. If there are operations south of the US border you have a contact for (Sao Paolo, Mexico City, Guadalajara?) which possess or used to have ex-US or ex-Canada trolleybuses, please feel free to drop me a line.
